Winter Session

Come join us to experience the thought-provoking and intriguing challenge of chamber music with our expanded program. Two different programs (Discovery and Elite) are available for gifted students to hone or further develop their chamber music skills. Students will have the opportunity to work with different coaches on their ensemble and rehearsal skills, as well as stylistic and technical guidance.

Dates: January 14 – April 16, 2023

Venue: a studio location that is most convenient for each chamber group

Time: a mutually convenient time for coaches and students, which usually falls on a weekend

Requirements: minimum RCM level 5 

Rehearsal: PCMA will facilitate a student-only rehearsal over spring-break, an opportunity to develop leadership and communication skills 

Performances*

  • Masterclass (Elite program) – March 4, Richmond Baptist Church
  • Outreach performance – April 9, OPAL by Element
  • Final concert – April 16, Richmond Baptist Church

Preparation: students are expected to have their private teacher assist them to be well-prepared for ensemble coachings. In the event that the private teacher is not available to assist, PCMA will arrange one of the coaches to assist the student privately ($65/hour)

DISCOVERY PROGRAM

Coaching: 11 sixty-minute coachings 

Repertoire: students are expected to complete 2 movements of a chamber work 

Tuition**: $565, early bird discount: $15 off before Dec 15

ELITE PROGRAM

Coaching: 10 ninety-minute coachings + masterclass with violinist professor Akemi Takayama

Repertoire: students are expected to complete the entire chamber work 

Tuition**: $715, early bird discount: $20 off before Dec 15
