Flautist Chieko Konishi graduated from the Osaka University of Arts with a Degree in Performance.  After graduating from the University, she founded “La Mer Flute Ensemble” and performed at concerts and events for about 20 years.  She has performed with the Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra and Telemann Chamber Orchestra in Japan. In April 2001, Chieko was invited along with other musicians to perform “Enjoy Japan” at Carnegie Hall in New York City. She has given recitals and played in chamber groups in the Vancouver area since 2004.  A CD of her performances, entitled “The Ocean in Spring”, was released in 2006. She was invited to the University of Victoria to perform as Orion Visitor for the 2011-2012 academic year.   In terms of teaching the next generation, she has been invited as an assistant director of a high school band, which achieved excellent results, including winning gold medals at the competitions. Many of her students are now working as professional flutists and music teachers in Japan and Canada.
