Pianist Jihye Son graduated with honors from the Seoul High School of the Arts before pursuing her musical education at the Korean National University of Arts. During her university studies, she decided to further her musical expertise in Europe. Successfully admitted to the Freiburg Music Hochschule in Germany, she achieved a Vor-Diplom, a Diplom (equivalent to a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree), and earned a Konzertexamen’s Degree (the highest degree available at music universities in Germany) in Piano performance from the Detmold Music Hochschule, graduating at the top of her class. Her accomplishments include an extensive performance repertoire and significant teaching experience.

Jihye’s musical journey includes winning the first prize at the Eumyeon Competition and Music Chunchu Competition in Seoul. She continued to showcase her talents by performing with renowned orchestras such as the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Ulsan Philharmonic Orchestra, and Seoul Symphony Orchestra.
Her musical prowess has been shaped by the guidance of esteemed artists she studied with, including Pi-hsien Chen, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, and Anatol Ugorski.
Jihye Son’s dedication to teaching and education holds immense significance, demonstrated through her impactful coaching of numerous students on an individual basis. In addition to her teaching role, she has shared her expertise at institutions such as Chonnam National University, Andong National University, Daegu Catholic University, and Hansei University.

As a distinguished artist, Jihye has showcased her prowess in the performance and interpretation of contemporary works. Her repertoire includes captivating recitals and chamber music, spanning traditional compositions of the 20th and 21st centuries
